Roll-out experience

We have successfully delivered a number of multiple roll-out projects, ranging from $7 million to some $48 million in value.

Recently over a nine month period we managed the re-image and refurbishment of 27 BP service station sites in NSW and a further 15 in Queensland . Sites were completed in waves of 4-5 at a time and were rolled out continuously over the period; project value was $21 million.

This project was a segment of much larger roll-out project whereby we were responsible for refurbishing and re-imaging BP's service station network nationwide with a total contract value of $61 million.

Under both of these arrangements with BP, as Construction Manager, we were responsible for the planning, budgeting, procurement, obtaining regulatory approvals, cost control/reporting as well as managing the construction process.

Currently we are engaged in a rollout program for Hungry Jacks. This project entails the construction of new Stores and refurbishment of existing outlets, with a value of some $20 million over the next 12 months.

Partnering

Paul Lanskey is well recognised for his pioneering work in developing and maintaining long term strategic partnerships which benefit the client as much as the construction company. Paul's work in this area is featured in Tony Lendrum's book "The Strategic Partnering Handbook". Lanskey Constructions now have successful partnering agreements in operation with several high profile clients around Australia.

Under partnering agreements both parties work together to achieve the most cost effective outcome. Key elements in this process are the development of an open approach, free sharing of information, common objectives and the effective management of project risk. Costs are typically reimbursed on an actual basis being monitored and controlled against clearly defined scopes and approved budgets. The margin is predetermined, with incentives for better than expected performance. Performance is measured against agreed KPI (Key Performance Indicators) with appropriate PM's (Performance Measures), such as HSSE, quality, cost and delivery.

An example of the success of these partnerships for both parties is evidenced by BP Australia recently extending our agreement for a further four years to undertake an extensive expansion project for BP. This project encompasses the construction of new service stations as well as refurbishment of existing facilities with a value of some $200 million.
